As I sit here in thought about what this summer holds for me, my stomach is full of butterflies and I have both hope and fear. There are so many things I will do in the next 2 months that I have never done before, that I have always been afraid to do. It's been the Lord's heart for me to do something this bold for so long and I have simply put it off, until now. Because beautiful stories are created when people do things they are scared to do. Stories happen when we push past fear into beauty.
So, I'm flying to the Dominican Republic on Saturday. When I get there I'll begin an 8 week internship with Orphanage Outreach, working with children and teaching English among other things. There will be a ton of firsts for me, but I welcome them with open arms. I've been resisting the force of story in my life for long enough, and now I just can't wait to let God work through me to reach the ones He loves. This summer I will learn while I teach. I'm excited about learning more about what leadership looks like for me. I'm excited about learning more Spanish! I have hope because I know this summer will be full of the Lord, and full of love. And my heart skips when I think of all the unknowns, but what I do know is what I will cling to.
I begin this blog in hopes to share with you and ask you to share with me in prayers and love as I start making stories.
